What if...?
From 1524, the first moment an European heard from 'a rich and mighty kingdom in the south', until now the Empire of Tawantinsuyo has inspired imagination. From their fabulous capital of Cusco, the children of the Sun marched to the four directions of the world, creating an empire that covered large parts of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile and Argentine in less than 100 years before the dramatic conquest by a handful of Spaniards. Their success based on agriculture, an universal religion and successful administration, they created the best road system, the most impressive temples and the most beautiful textile of the world – without knowledge of wheel or writing.

The brutal invasion of Spanish conquistadors, followed by endless plunders and ravaging diseases meant the definitive end of a world so different than ours. Many aspects of this world are forever lost, and much of what we know about it, is based on assumptions. Other aspects though – for example their language and some of their habits and traditions – still struggle to survive. Seeing the impressive walls in the centre of Cusco, the breathtaking ruins of Saqsaywaman and the magical site of Machu Picchu we wonder: how was it and what if…?
